I am Soumok Sadhu a Ph.D. student in Comparative and Molecular Biosciences program at the Department
of Veterinary Sciences and Biomedical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota.
And an Research Assistant at the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Department of
Medicine, Medical School. I hold an M.S. in Biotechnology from the University of Glasgow. My research
focuses on the gut microbiome, particularly the metabolic capabilities of microbial communities and their
roles in health and disease. I am currently investigating microbiota-based interventions, including Fecal
Microbiota Transplantation (FMT), to better understand host-microbe interactions and develop novel
therapeutic strategies.
Outside of academics, I enjoy staying physically active through sports and outdoor activities. I regularly
play soccer, volleyball, badminton, and pickleball, engaging in at least one form of physical activity nearly
every day of the week. These activities not only help me maintain a healthy lifestyle but also offer a great
way to connect with friends and build a sense of community. I value social interaction and often spend my
free time enjoying meaningful conversations or casual outings with peers, which helps me stay balanced
and energized in both my personal and professional life.
